VCMaster3D: a new Fourier optics viewing angle instrument for characterization of autostereoscopic 3D displays

 

We propose a new way to characterize auto-stereoscopic 3D displays using multi-location

viewing angle measurements and calculation of 3D and standard properties in the observer

space in front of the display. We show first that the main experimental problem is the need of

very high angular resolution for such a measurement. A new instrument dedicated to this

application is presented. It exhibits a practical angular resolution better than 0.04° for all the

viewing angle up to 50° incidence. Different measurement examples and comparison to

standard viewing angle instruments are reported.
