DESCRIPTION:China’s thin-film-transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) manufacturing capacity is forecasted to jump 35 percent in 2007 and 50 percent in 2008, as plants under construction and planned come online. TFT-LCD manufacturers in China will spend some $1.5-2.0 billion on capital equipment and an estimated $2.5-$3.0 billion on materials, in both 2007 and 2008. With investment in display production facilities likely slowing in the rest of the world, China could account for 20 percent-30 percent of the total world market for TFT-LCD manufacturing equipment.
