Description MS

EZContrastMS is an extension of the well known Fourier transform EZContrast viewing angle instruments proposed by ELDIM for more than 10 years to measure luminance and color. One of their major features is the patented optical configuration which allows controlling the angular aperture of the system independently of the measurement spot size (see below). In EZContrastMS different automated wheels allow selection of the light beam using 31 band pass filters regularly distributed in the visible range. The system makes automatically a quasi spectral image of the full Fourier plane at each filter wavelength and the sequence is repeated for all the filters. The system is calibrated in an absolute way to reconstruct the spectral radiance of the object at each incidence and azimuth angle.

ELDIM patented system:

Control of the measurement spot size independently of the angular aperture (cosine compensation)

Color and luminance properties can be recalculated with an excellent accuracy (better than ±0.002 for the color coordinates in the entire chromatic plane). This accuracy is guaranteed for any spectral stimuli because the spectral response of a multispectral system can be adjusted more closely to the CIE curves that color filter systems. With 5 color filters, their spectral transmittance is optimized to match the CIE curves but we have only 5 multiplicative coefficients to adjust after color filter fabrication. With band pass filters, up to 31 multiplicative coefficients are available to adjust the system response to the CIE curves and so the accuracy is better.

Series of band pass filters for multispectral measurement in the visible range (400-700nm)
