New OPTISCope-SA instrument looks like a conventional camera but includes all the hardware needed for temporal and luminance measurements. OPTISCope-SA connected to a laptop with measurement and regression analysis software An imaging objective collects the light within an angular aperture of +/-1° following VESA standard. OPTISCope-SA can be used at various distances from the display down to 30cm. An image of the target can also be obtained with 1M pixels color CMOS sensor for alignment purpose. OPTISCope-SA cross section Part of the light goes to a photomultiplier across a photopeak filter. The electronics includes a 16bits analog to digital converter and on board 4M memory. USB 2.0 connection with PC allows quick and unlimited acquisitions with a sampling step between 5 and 20µs.
Gamma curve of a LCD display measured with OPTISCope-SA The system includes also a calibrated photodiode and an internal LED illumination to make self calibration and allow accurate luminance measurements. This capacity can be used to measure the gamma curve of the display before temporal analysis. Then gray to gray measurement and analysis can be made with fixed luminance step between each level. Compared to standard analysis with fixed gray scale step the advantage of this approach is to be more representative of the human eye sensation. | OPTISCope-SA software simplifies measurement and characterization of panels according to VESA, IEAJ(JEITA) and ISO standards. | ||
| 2a-Measurement and control | ||
| Thanks to ELDIM's pattern generator: FPDLite or third party driver, OPTISCope-SA software allows control of any panel (HDMI, DVI, LVDS, VGA). In this way, measurement process is efficiently synchronized with panel patterns and then allows fast and reliable testing. | ||

OPTIScope-SA software includes a useful signal processing toolbox. This signal processing toolbox provides powerful algorithms for cleaning noisy signal without altering signal waveform therefore without altering response time measurement. This signal processing efficiency allows user to analyze and extract accurate response time from any LCD panels using the most recent driving technology. |
